“I’m not trying to criticised Ruben Amorim but there are TWO prayers who shouldn’t have benched yesterday…It was the reason behind our defeat yesterday”: Man United’s Bruno Fernandes query Ruben Amorim for benching TWO key players against Arsenal yesterday

Ruben Amorim suffered his first loss as Manchester United’s head coach, with the defeat coming at the hands of set-piece goals scored by Jurrien Timber and William Saliba. Despite dominating possession and control of the match, the home team ultimately secured the victory by capitalizing on United’s weaknesses during dead-ball situations.

In the first half, United showed glimpses of defensive solidity when it came to open play. However, they struggled significantly to handle set-pieces, with their inability to compete physically or positionally in those moments proving costly. Additionally, their attacking efforts were largely ineffective throughout the game, leaving them unable to mount any serious threat to the opposition.

Amorim opted for significant changes in his starting lineup, making six adjustments, including leaving Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford out of the initial eleven. Although the pair was introduced from the bench later in the game, their impact was not enough to overturn the deficit or change the overall momentum.

While Amad Diallo showed flashes of promise and injected some energy after coming on, Marcus Rashford’s performance drew harsh criticism. Roy Keane, speaking on The Overlap, did not hold back in his assessment, expressing disappointment with Rashford’s contribution during his second-half appearance. “Let me tell you something—Marcus Rashford came on there, and his general play as a footballer is shocking,” Keane remarked.
