Barcelona prepared to offer two players for Chelsea superstar in the most outrageous swap deal of the year

Barcelona are reportedly preparing a bold transfer proposal to acquire Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, with plans to include two of their key players as part of the deal. This potential move could mark a significant shakeup in European football.

The Catalan club, currently enjoying a stellar season, has reasserted its dominance in both domestic and European competitions. They sit comfortably at the top of the La Liga table, ahead of their fierce rivals Real Madrid, and have also secured a spot among the final eight teams in the UEFA Champions League.

According to a report from TeamTalk, Barcelona is looking to strengthen its squad further and is considering offering Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres in exchange for the Argentine midfielder. This strategy is aimed at bypassing a large transfer fee while still securing the highly-rated Fernandez.

Enzo Fernandez, who joined Chelsea for a record-breaking £107 million transfer fee nearly two years ago, is one of the Premier League’s priciest acquisitions. Barcelona’s proposed deal would rely on De Jong and Torres, two players who cost the Spanish club a combined £115 million but have struggled to maintain consistent performances. Their current market values, as estimated by Transfermarkt, are £49.3 million for De Jong and £24.6 million for Torres, reflecting a notable depreciation since their initial signings.

At the start of the current season, Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, seemed hesitant to feature Fernandez prominently, favoring other midfielders such as Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo. However, Fernandez has since demonstrated his value, recording three goals and six assists in his last six appearances across all competitions. His contributions include scoring or assisting in his last five Premier League games, underscoring his growing influence on the team.

Now a crucial part of Chelsea’s starting lineup, Fernandez has made 19 appearances this season and is considered untouchable by the club during both the January and summer transfer windows. This stance by Chelsea could present a major obstacle for Barcelona’s ambitious plans to bring the 23-year-old to Camp Nou.
