Friday morning deal: Manchester United finally complete their third summer signing after beating Liverpool and Arsenal for the £60m signature, Agreement reached last night, medical will take place today – welcome to Old Trafford
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have successfully reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain’s midfielder Manuel Ugarte regarding personal terms.
In the past few weeks, Ugarte has surfaced as a significant target for Manchester United as they aim to enhance Erik ten Hag’s midfield lineup in preparation for the 2024/25 season.
With the potential departures of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen from Old Trafford, United faces the necessity of finding suitable replacements. Additionally, there is a need to identify an ideal midfield partner for the promising youngster Kobbie Mainoo. This is where Ugarte’s role becomes crucial.
Earlier reports from The Peoples Person revealed that United had initially made a bid for Ugarte, which PSG promptly rejected as it did not meet their valuation of the South American player. Despite this setback, United has remained in negotiations with the reigning Ligue 1 champions to find a mutually acceptable transfer fee.
There have even been speculations about Manchester United potentially proposing a loan deal for the 23-year-old dynamic midfielder from PSG.
It is known that Ugarte himself is eager to join United, as he believes his prospects in Paris are limited, having fallen out of favor under the management of Luis Enrique.
Romano, an Italian journalist, has provided a crucial update on this development, confirming that Ugarte has agreed to the terms offered by Manchester United.
Romano shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Manuel Ugarte.”
He continued, “Contract terms discussed, player keen on moving to United even without Champions League football.”
“Club-to-club talks continue with PSG, as more clubs also inquired.”
“Same agent as Leny Yoro: Jorge Mendes.”
Last season, Ugarte made 37 appearances in various competitions for PSG, contributing two assists during that period.
Apart from Manchester United, the Uruguayan midfielder has also attracted interest from La Liga giants Barcelona and Bundesliga club Bayern Munich.
